Skincare For Amateurs!

I was very much into makeup a few years back but no matter how many ever YouTube tutorials I tried my makeup was never on point or never what I expected it to be like – “Instagram worthy”. It took me some time to realise that unless my canvas is clean and beautiful, my paintings won’t ever be that great. So that’s how I got into skin care.
Many people, while starting skincare, make various mistakes which makes it difficult for them to get the desired results. So today I’ll give you a few pointers on the do’s and don’ts for a skincare amateur.

  • Never touch your face.
This is rule number one for obvious reasons. Your hands touch various surfaces and contain all sorts of bacteria. You do not want those bacteria on your face since it causes acne and oiliness which is something every girl out there wants to avoid.
Carry wet wipes. Whenever you feel that your skin is becoming too oily, sweaty or even dry, wipe your face with the wet wipes (it also ensures that your face remains hydrated).
  • Drink water.
This is one of the most important things one should follow in skincare. No product will be efficient if the skin isn’t hydrated. I use the “Water Drink Reminder” App to make sure I drink atleast 1.5L of water per day.
  • Healthy diet.
I maintain a very healthy diet. I eat atleast 3 fruits per day and have stopped eating fried/processed foods. I minimise my junk food intake to once in a week or two. I eat sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and dry fruits as snacks.
A simple hack – Planning out a diet chart and sticking it somewhere in the kitchen where you can see it clearly will also serve as a daily reminder for you to have healthy foods. Do not keep any junk food at home. Carrying fruits or dry fruits in your bag is also helpful for when those hunger pangs hit throughout the day.
  • Always remove your makeup.
Always remove your makeup no matter how tired you are. No excuses. Also make sure to clean your makeup brushes regularly because they have loads of lint, bacteria, dust collected on them.
A helpful tip – Keep make up sponges soaked in make up remover in a jar on your bedside table. This way, you’ll not only remember to remove your makeup but also not have to do a lot of work before going to sleep.
  • Religiously follow your routine.
Your skin is more likely to respond to the treatment given if it’s given at a regular basis. When you find a particular skin care routine, make sure to stick to it and also not use a lot of products since most of them contain harmful chemicals which are not suitable for your skin.
  • Moisturisers and Skin Creams.
Every skin type is different and requires different types of moisturisers and creams. Keeping this in mind, it’s always better to use a moisturiser that suits your skin. Never ever step out in the Sun without applying some sun screen on your face.

That’s it for today! Just remember everyone’s skin is different and something may not work for you. Email us for any queries!
